Dr. Muzammil Shiraz Shaikh

Dr. Muzammil Shiraz is a dedicated medical professional with a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of orthopaedic surgery. With a strong educational background, he completed his MBBS from Padm. Dr. D.Y. Patil Hospital in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, and pursued his DNB in Orthopaedic Surgery, earning a Post-Graduate Master's degree. His postgraduate training took place at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre in Bandra, Mumbai.

Dr. Shiraz's professional journey encompasses a diverse range of roles and experiences. He served as a Senior Registrar in the orthopaedic department of BDBA General Municipal Hospital, Kandivali, for over two years, gaining valuable practical knowledge and honing his surgical skills. Prior to that, he worked as a private general practitioner for six years after completing his MBBS. Additionally, he has worked at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre in the plastic surgery department.

His proficiency in orthopaedic surgery is commendable. Dr. Shiraz is skilled in performing surgeries to treat fractures of all bones, joint replacements, and keyhole surgeries such as arthroscopy. He also specializes in correcting bone and joint deformities and treating spinal issues. During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, he demonstrated exceptional dedication by caring for over 1,000 patients.

Dr. Shiraz is not only a proficient practitioner but also a dedicated educator. He serves as a teaching faculty member for MBBS students at Terna Medical College and Research Centre. He imparts knowledge to CPS Orthopaedics students through bedside clinics and lectures. He has conducted various teaching programs for paramedical staff, including nurses and OT technicians, and has also taught physiotherapists and medical students (MBBS and DNB) at the bedside.

He has completed courses such as the Basic Paediatric Orthopaedic Course, Advanced Arthroscopy Course, and Advanced Robotic Replacement Surgeries, conducted by various orthopedic societies throughout India.

Dr. Shiraz's dedication to furthering the field extends to research as well. He has four publications to his name, showcasing his contributions to the orthopaedic literature. Notable among them are case reports on Macrodystrophia Lipomatosa, Aneurysmal Bone Cyst, and Compression of Ulnar Nerve by Ganglionic Cyst in Guyon’s Canal. His research work also includes a thesis comparing functional and radiological outcomes in patients treated surgically with Posterolateral Fusion and Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion for Lumbar Spondylolisthesis.
